Mike Nevitt

I began practicing mind body disciplines from the age of 12. A schoolboy amatuer boxer for 3 years I moved on to the eastern disciplines of karate and kung fu. From here it was a natural progression to the more internal art of Tai Chi which I practiced and taught for 4 years. I needed something more physically challenging and so began training in Iyengar yoga. As an unemployed graphic artist I decided to devote my entire time to the practice of yoga. When ashtanga yoga came to england in 1994 I began the traditional 6 days per week practice of this powerful form of yoga. I have studied intensively in India, the United States and Thailand. For the past 18 years I have also been practicing the buddhist meditation techniques of Vippasana and Samatha and the yogic breathing practices of Ujjayi pranayama and Nadi shodana.

Currently I run the Ancient Bamboo yoga center in Århus where I teach a full programme of ashtanga yoga and meditation. My work outside of the center has been to take mindfulness practices and breathing and relaxation practices into organisations like the Kaos Pilot education programme, Århus Theater School, hejmdal cancer patient facility and the Startvækst business information center where I have given several lectures in entreprenuership.

I am available to give lectures and workshops in both yoga and MBSR - Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
